Mathematics Education was set up to train teachers who will demonstrate adequate knowledge of Mathematics with teaching competence. This is done in order to meet up with the ever increasing demand of Mathematics teachers with modern pedagogy to meet up with the challenge of instruction in the ICT age. 

The Philosophy of Mathematics Education Programme is to equip the teachers, regardless of time and place in an open and distance learning environment with skills of teaching the young learners to appreciate the relevance of Mathematics and to teach confidently with effective and creative methods that will make the learners have holistic development to suitably adapt to his world by applying Mathematics knowledge in resolving life challenges where appropriate.
